About Applying for the 2012-2013 Course
Come and see
The Camberley and Bagshot Catholic Parish extends an invitation to any young person aged fourteen and/or in Year 10 of secondary school in September 2012, who wishes to be confirmed in May 2013. For these young people a preparation course will be provided to meet the specific needs of the age group. For those who are in their late teens or early twenties a special course is provided that has strong links to the parish RCIA programme.
How to Apply
If you wish to join next year's programme for then complete an application form over the summer holidays or in the autumn and return it to 1 Caesar’s Camp Road, Camberley, Surrey, GU15 4ED. For older candidates applications should be made by contacting the parish office.
The Course
The course of preparation begins in December and concludes with the celebration of the sacrament in May. Candidates will meet informally from time to time with parish catechists to examine various aspects of the faith. During the year candidates will be invited to attend a ‘day away’ together to get to know each other better and to reflect on what Confirmation means.
The Celebration
At present Confirmation is celebrated within the context of the Woking Deanery. Since the Deanery is large the bishop normally comes to Woking then on to the western end of the deanery and to the Church of Our Lady Queen of Heaven, Frimley for our confirmations. The parishes of Our Lady Queen of Heaven and Camberley & Bagshot combine for this celebration.
In 2012 and 2013 Bishop Kieran will be celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, Frimley in May. This Sacrament fulfils the promise which Jesus made on the night before he died, when he said to his followers:
"I will ask the Father to send another Advocate, who will be with you for ever." (John 14:16)
This helper, the Holy Spirit, gives us strength, the courage and the love to live as Jesus taught us, and so to find the peace and the joy which God alone can give.
