Cursillo
Cursillo Support Groups are now up and running in the Camberley & Bagshot Parish
Cursillo Support Groups are open to anyone who wishes to grow and better understand their faith. Cursillo is a little like “Spiritual Weightwatchers”. Although a tiny minority can successfully take a journey in total isolation, most of us need the strength of people around us to provide support when we need help and encouragement and to join in our happiness when things are going well.Cursillo allows us through group support and prayer to achieve what would be totally inconceivable as individuals. Cursillo makes us more confident in our faith and growing confidence allows us to better express our beliefs in a more articulate manner. And being more articulate allows us to be better prepared to meet Christ’s great commission to spread the word. Pope John Paul II talking about Cursillo in St Peter’s Square on 24 November 1990 said:
“Here is your role in the Church: to create clusters of believers who will carry the message of salvation everywhere, showing the seriousness of your opinion not by imposing it, but by a strong testimony.”
C&B Cursillo Groups usually meet up once a month and in our local parish, one has a choice of either a Mixed Group; a Men’s Group or a Ladies’ Group. In every case, you will find that there is no pressure, no hidden agenda and no financial commitment.
The only commitment we ask of you is to come along and attend a Support Group just once. If you like it, then you will come back again; if you feel it is not for you then you won’t. Either way, we will fully respect that decision but have to say that the latter does not occur very often.
